Leh to Nubra valley via Kardungla pass (125 km 4 – 5 hrs)
Today after breakfast at 8:00 AM leave to Hunder village of Nubra valley by crossing Kardungla pass (5,359 Meter above sea leave). Kardungla pass is one of the highest motorable pass in the world. At the summit of Kardungla pass majestic view of snow peaks glacier of Zanskar range. Spend only short time at top of Kardungla pass for photography because chance of adverse effect of high altitude on health. From the Kardungla pass after 1 hour drive there is small village name Kardung village, Kardung village is the first village on the way Nubra valley located on the height of 3975 meter above sea level. Village have small market and few small restaurants. Halt there for relax and lunch.
After lunch leave to Hunder village, Hunder village located on the height of 3000 Meter on the bank of Nubra River. Hunder village is the main attraction of Nubra valley for it double hump camel and Sand dune. Before heading toward Hunder village short halt at Deskit village located just 5 km before the Hunder village. Diskit village is now main town of Nubra valley with administration offices and markets. There visit 14th century Deskit monastery – the biggest monastery in the Nubra valley and 107 Feet Maitreya Buddha Statue which was built in 2010 located, both monastery and statue of Maitreya Buddha statue on the cliff of lofty mountain on the side of main road. At the Maitreya Buddha statue and monastery panoramic view of Nubra valley and Sand dune of Hunder village. Then after leave to Sand dune of Hunder village. When you reach sand dune it will be around 3:30 to 4:30 pm and this time is perfect to enjoy the double hump camel ride because at midday is quite hot at sand dune. Camp is located nearby sand dune just 2 or 3 minute drive. Dinner and overnight at Hunder village.
